Overcoming barriers

Homelessness and problems with credit, rental or criminal history can be significant barriers to housing. Still, there are ways to address — and overcome — barriers.

  • Experiencing homelessness
If you're helping someone who is homeless, ensure stability by connecting them to short-term support while looking toward the future and long-term housing needs and goals.

  • Denied housing
If you're working with someone who's been denied housing, consider ways to explore past problems and overcome them to reach housing goals.
