Did you get a text message from DHS?

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is sending text messages to help people stay informed about their healthcare coverage.

If you have Medical Assistance (MA), MinnesotaCare or another Minnesota Health Care Program, you may receive messages about:

  • Updating your address, phone number or other contact information.

  • Upcoming healthcare renewals, deadlines and forms you need to return.

  • Other health insurance options if you lose or are denied coverage.

How can you tell if the message is from DHS?

DHS healthcare text messages come from 28343. DHS will never ask you to provide personal information by text.

What else should you know?

If you provided a cell phone number when applying for healthcare coverage, DHS may send you text messages automatically. You do not need to sign up, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages.

These are one-way messages, so you cannot reply with questions. Receiving text messages is optional and does not affect your eligibility for healthcare coverage.

Keep your coverage up to date.

Text reminders do not replace renewal notices. Continue to watch your mail, keep your contact information up to date and return any required renewal forms by the deadline.

Visit the DHS Renew my coverage webpage to look up your renewal date, update your contact information, learn what to expect during renewal and find out how to complete and return forms or get help.
